TV Recap: Survivor: Gabon - This Camp Is Cursed

This Camp is Cursed – yeah, they may be right about that. Not only can they not win anything, but they’ve got a good sized elephant stalking them. By good sized, I mean he’s probably a teenager, ‘cause he ain’t that big – but he is big enough to kill one or all of the tribe. The entire tribe pops a squat across the water hole from this not-so-gentle-giant, and Matty and Ace decide to take the kayak over to get a closer look.

TV Recap: Survivor: Gabon - It Was Like Christmas Morning

Probst is messing with my mind this week. The showA starts out with a little recap as usual, but as usual, I skipped through it. The very first major event after that is what’s screwing me up. Probst lines the tribes up on pedestals, and tells them this is how they’ve been ranked as most important by their tribe members. No surprise, Marcus is tops in Kota – but Matty as tops in Fang? For real? The burnout guy who uses words like “buzzkill”? Says a lot about your tribe, dude.

TV Recap: Suvivor: Gabon - She Obviously Is Post-Op

One thing that drives me freaking crazy about Survivor is the ten minute recap. This is the 17th (seriously – the 17th) go-round, and is there any chance that they are still bringing in new viewers? At this point, either you’ve been watching every season since #1, you gave up after All-Stars, or you refused to watch it from the beginning. There are no new Survivor fans.

2008 Fall TV Premiere Schedule

Fall’s not that far away and as the summer shows are beginning to wrap up, I’ve been finding myself wondering when to expect some of my favorite shows to return from the summer hiatus. So I figure now’s as good a time as any to get started on the big premiere schedule. We’ll be posting previews for all of the new and returning shows this season and as always, the schedule is a work in progress.

CBS Fall 2008 Premiere Schedule

It looks like CBS is gearing up for a busy fall season. Based on their season and series premiere schedule, the fall season will officially start for the Eye with the premiere of Survivor: Gabon on September 18th. Following that, they’ll bring back their Monday comedy line-up with the premieres of The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men and one of their new series, Worst Week.

CBS 2008 Fall TV Schedule

CBS’s 2008 fall schedule is up and I don’t know about anyone else but I’m extremely pleased to see that How I Met Your Mother is on it. Unfortunately for the, the same cannot be said for the recently cancelled Moonlight but CBS has added a handful of new series to the lineup.

2008 Winter TV Preview: Survivor: Micronesia

Another thing that bothers me about Survivor is its attempts to make the show fresh by mixing up the format. They’ve separated contestants based on age, gender, and most notably, race. The whole thing seems exploitative and even worse, boring. However, I will say that this season’s theme, fans vs. favorites, does seem like fun. If only to see exactly how much everybody hates Johnny Fairplay.

Survivor: Micronesia - Fan Faves Vs. Newbies

Get ready for more fun and frolicry. Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites debuts February 7 on CBS at 8 p.m. The 16th (yes, really!) season promises more back-stabbing, bitching, and beaches as one tribe of former Survivor standouts goes head to head with a tribe of newbies who idolize the players they’ll be competing against.

2008 Winter TV Premiere Schedule

Between the winter hiatus and the writers strike, it’s kind of hard to get excited about the new winter line-up. Will there be anything left to watch next month? Actually – there will be and thankfully, not all of the new and returning shows are reality and game shows. Ok, a lot of them are but sprinkled in between returning shows like Supernanny, Biggest Loser and 1 vs. 100, you’ll find new series like Cashmere Mafia and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
