There aren't a whole lot of games coming out in July - particularly shooters - but World War II multiplayer shooter Battlefield 1943 will be one of the exceptions. EA announced today that it will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on July 9th.
BF 1943 allows up to 24 players to battle it out on four different maps in the Pacific theater of World War II. One of the maps, Coral Sea, will only be unlocked when players collectively rack up 43 million kills. The maps are based off locales from Battlefield 1942 but they're now powered by Battlefield Bad Company's Frostbite Engine, allowing for maximum destruction to the environment.
The game will cost $15 to download through PSN or Xbox Live. A PC version will be released in September.
