Fallout 3, which was once cancelled and has taken ten years total to be released, has been deemed worthy of midnight launch events by Best Buy and Gamestop. You've come a long way, baby.

Best Buy sent out a press releas yesterday detailing which locations will have midnight sales events for the post-apocalyptic RPG. Unfortunately, it's only twelve stores total. On the bright side, those of you who live in Rockville, Maryland will be able to meet Fallout 3 executive producer Todd Howard and other members of the team at that particular store:

Washington, DC area

• Rockville, MD - 1200 Rockville Pike
• Tysons Corner, VA – 8449 Leesburg Pike

New York Area

• New York, NY – 44th And 5th
• Westbury, NY – 1100 Old Country Rd.

Los Angeles area

• Glendale, CA – 2909 Los Feliz Blvd.
• Pasadena, CA – 3415 E. Foothill Blvd.

Chicago area

• Chicago, IL. – 1000 W. North Ave.
• Downers Grove, IL – 1432 Butterfield Rd.

Dallas area

• Plano, TX – 2800 N. Central Expy.
• Fort Worth, TX – 6750 West Fwy.

Minneapolis area

GameStop will also be holding launch events of its own. Their press release didn't list the specific stores but that's because over 1,600 of their stores in the United States will be participating in the midnight launch. To confirm whether your local store will be open at midnight on October 28th, give 'em a buzz. Given the high amount of participating stores, even if the Gamestop Where Everyone Knows Your Name isn't open at midnight, another one a town or two over probably is.
