Majesco and Wayforward are re-envisioning the Bloodrayne franchise as a side-scroller akin to the likes of Castlevania. What’s more, though, is that the newest game in the series, Bloodrayne; Betrayal, channels a lot of Klei Entertainment’s revenge action game, Shank. There’s definitely nothing wrong with that considering that Shank is now an instant classic and more games mirroring that style of gameplay is definitely welcomed.

The new debut trailer for Bloodrayne: Betrayal features bucket loads of blood splattering, squirting, spraying and blasting from every which direction. The game is a mix of classic Castlevania style platforming with new-age hack-and-slash combat systems that were introduced in the aforementioned, Shank.

It’s a little sad that this once prestigious franchise has been relegated to an animated side-scroller, but I suppose something is better than nothing. You can check out the new gameplay trailer below and remember to look for Bloodrayne: Betrayal to hit the digital e-tailers for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer.
