For only $150.00 you can delve even deeper into the Call of Duty experience with the Cull of Duty XP 2011 Convention. Activision announced that everyone is invited and all the proceeds will go to the non-profit Call of Duty Endowment for war veterans.
Eric Douche--oops, I mean, Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing commented in the press release, saying… “From the high production values of our live, immersive events – all the way to the smallest details in every design and activity – we’re pulling out all the stops to make Call of Duty XP the ultimate gathering for the global community of Call of Duty fans,”…“The celebration will immerse attendees in a Call of Duty experience unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. Over the course of two days, gamers can trade Call of Duty war stories, experience the official unveiling of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer and the full feature functionality of Call of Duty Elite, as well as enjoy world-class entertainment and compete head-to-head for some serious cash prizes.”Blah, blah, blah. Right. Anyway, the good news is that there are actually some pretty cool events that the $150 will buy you once you get the tickets: life-sized Modern Warfare maps have been recreated as a paintball arena, where participants will aim to get kill streaks using paintball guns. Whether you like Call of Duty or not, the concept of a life-sized deathmatch map using paintball guns is still pretty snazzy. In addition to this, a $1 million dollar Call of Duty tournament will be hosted at the convention. Regional competitions will take place using Call of Duty: Black Ops, with the winner walking away some high-quality prizes. The competitions will also be streamed in HD, so even those who aren’t participating in the actual contest can still check out all the action taking place throughout the tournament. A special multiplayer reveal of Modern Warfare 3 will also take place at the Call of Duty XP 2011 Convention, giving gamers their first glimpse at the multiplayer modes in the latest Call of Duty game. Tickets will go on sale beginning July 19th, which will grant you a two-day pass at the CoD XP convention. You can check out a few additional details about the event below or head on over to the Official Website to learn more. Other Call of Duty XP activities include: • Tournaments and prizes for the hardcore and casual fan alike • Discussion panels and Q&A with Call of Duty developers • Onsite Call of Duty armory and museum • AAA live entertainment |
