EA and BioWare have made no secret of the fact that Dragon Age: Origins would be getting a sequel. Today they formally revealed Dragon Age II with a new website.

Dragon Age II is an all-new adventure in a different part of the game world. Over the course of the decade, the human hero Hawke transforms from a "destitute refugee" into a "revered champion of the land." New combat mechanics and updated visuals are promised as well.

DA2 will be the subject of Game Informer's August issue, which should be hitting subscribers' mailboxes soon. According to the game's website, the first trailer for the game will appear on August 17th. The first art is below.

New copies of expansion pack Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening included flyers that hinted February 1st, 2011 would be an important date for the series. It seemed very likely that's the release date for DA2. However, the press release from EA states DA2 will arrive in March.
