E3 2007: Microsoft Unveils Halo 3 Themed Special Edition Xbox 360

It’s only the first day of E3 and we already have a story that I guarantee will win the CB Games award for “WTF Moment of the Show.” Microsoft has announced that there will be a new addition to the myriad of options available to consumers considering a purchase of the Xbox 360. Coming this fall they will be putting out a special edition Halo 3 themed Xbox 360.

The unit will be available this September, and will presumably coincide directly with the release of the game. No pricing information was made public at the event. The unit (as you can see) comes in a green and gold finish, and is engraved with forerunner styled designs and emblems of all variety. Furthermore it comes with a large assortment of Halo 3 themed goodies.

So why is this so bizarre and WTF worthy? I’ll show you exactly why. This is a list of what comes included:

- Halo 3 Special Edition Console

- Halo 3 Special Edition Wireless Controller

- Halo 3 Special Edition 20GB Hard Drive

- Halo 3 Special Edition Wired Headset

- Halo 3 Special Edition Gamer Pics and Theme (Exclusive download via Xbox LIVE)

- Component HD AV Cable

- Ethernet Cable

- HDMI Port

- Play & Charge Kit

- Xbox LIVE Silver Membership

- One-month Lbox LIVE Gold Membership

- Halo 3 game not included--sold separately

What the F***!? Oh…excuse I mean (calmly, and in a whispery voice) WTF!? The special edition Halo 3 console…doesn’t come with Halo 3. This is utterly ridiculous. My best guess as to why it’s not included? It’s because MS doesn’t want it mucking up their Halo 3 sales numbers. They want to take Harry Potter head on again for the title of the best day in entertainment history. It’s not going to happen guys, just get over it and include the damn game.
