In order to edge out Sony and the PS3, Microsoft has been keen on acquiring exclusive downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of multi-platform games. During their E3 press conference they revealed that they're employing a similar tactic with Modern Warfare 2.

After a live demo of the game, Microsoft VP John Schappert announced that two map packs will be released first through Xbox Live. In other words, the maps will be timed exclusives for the Xbox 360. No other details were offered.

Wonder if that'll affect sales either way. Good news for Activision and Infinity Ward, at least - they'll no doubt get a fat sum of cash for that exclusivity period.
