EA Plans Red Alert 3 Expansion PacksAuthor: Pete Haas

Red Alert 3 isn't in stores yet but it's never too early to start talking additional content. EA has revealed that it's considering releasing several small expansions for the alt history real-time strategy game.
Producer David Silverman told Videogamer that rather than releasing one large, full-priced expansion pack (as is the norm with Command & Conquer games), EA will probably release the new content in small portions. "Maybe it's, 'oh you want more story?', well here's the campaign expansion, 'you want more multiplayer maps and what not?', here's the multiplayer expansion, 'you want to play co-op?', here's the co-op expansion. If we can start to think about it like that it allows us to be a little bit more nimble and help address the demand from the fans faster." The upside to such an approach, besides the fact that the content will come out quicker, is that you'll be able to buy only the components you want. If you don't have any interest in the single-player campaign anymore, you won't have to buy that slice of new content. This all sounds very preliminary so they might not stick to this, though. Silverman revealed in the same interview that RA3 will come to the PS3 in the future so apparently Videogamer employs some very skilled interrogators. Red Alert 3 will be released on November 11th for PC and Xbox 360. |
