Dark Energy Digital Entertainment announced that Hydrophobia Prophecy will be arriving for the PS3’s PlayStation Network and PlayStation Plus beginning November 1st. The game will also sport full support for the PlayStation Move.
Hydrophobia Prophecy is a third-person, underwater shooter with strong adventure and puzzle elements. The game released earlier in the year for PC. Dark Energy’s Peter Jones stated that… “The PlayStation 3 is now by far and away the best looking and best playing version of the game on any platform - it's in a different league compared to the original release, with many game systems reworked from the ground up, compelling new mechanics and a deeper back-story. What's more, the PlayStation Network release will also contain the Darknet feedback system, a first on console, allowing players to engage directly with us the developer ”, The game was reworked -- and apparently that was the delay between the PC release and PS3 release -- for full PS Move support. I guess it makes sense. If a game is going to make use of tertiary controls outside of standard dual-analog controllers or the keyboard and mouse, it’s best if it arrives late to the party with full-fledged support and tight controls as opposed to being rushed to the market with piss-poor support. I really like Dark Energy’s design decision for the game in that regards, especially for release on a console (and in my opinion, console games should be released without requiring day-one patches). You can look for Hydrophobia Prophecy to release on the PlayStation Network starting November 1st for only $7.99 in North America and for £5.10 in the UK and it will be free to PlayStation Plus members.
