Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Launch Date And Limited Edition Announced

It looks like anyone who pre-orders Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX nice and early will automatically be upgraded to the Limited Edition of the game. And what does said Limited Edition offer as a unique bonus? Why, your very own Keyblade, of course. Okay, that was a lie and I’m sorry. By way of apology, might I offer you a Kingdom Hearts pin instead?

Announced today via the PlayStation Blog, it looks like those of you who are eager to replay some classic Kingdom Hearts goodness will be rewarded with a fancy pin depicting Mickey and Sora standing back to back. Appropriately enough, there’s even a little dangling chain featuring a Mickey Mouse logo hanging from Sora’s Keyblade on the pin.

After Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX released, fans of the series knew it was only a matter of time before a 2.5 would hit the scene, boasting the other three main games in the Kingdom Hearts story. At E3 2014, we finally got a release date of Dec. 2 for that title, which offers up HD-ified versions of Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix, Birth by Sleep: Final Mix and Re:coded.

If you’ll check out that image at the top of this post, you’ll see the actual pin itself, which Square Enix Japan Studios Product Manager Kaori Takasue was pretty dang excited about.

“What you’re seeing is a real image of Mickey Mouse and Sora back to back for the first time on a pin,” he said, showing off his deep knowledge of Kingdom Hearts related memorabilia. “We’ve looked at every curvature of the pin, from the expressions of the characters to the Keyblade with the Mickey Dangler. The pin badge is made out of a soft enamel coating on metal and at its height, it stretches out to 1.68”.”

I imagine that was some pretty enticing word porn for you pin enthusiasts in the audience. For the rest of the audience, that all basically translates to, “Hey, it’s a pretty sweet pin.”

As a final tidbit, Kaori Takasue let slip that 2.5 ReMIX will include a couple of nice bonuses for local gamers, including the secret movie from Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth by Sleep, which have never been available (outside of Youtube) in the US or the UK.

This all will, of course, lead us directly into Kingdom Hearts 3 which, last we heard, is heading to the PlayStation 4 sometime this century.
