Metal Gear Solid Online Beta DetailsAuthor: Steve West

June may seem like such a long time to wait before we get our hands on Snake’s final battle. And it indeed is, but you’ll get some relief this week with the Metal Gear Online beta which will be available for download on April 17th. Then you just have to wait until the 21st for the action to start. And you’re probably wondering what sort of shenanigans will be available to you. Glad you asked, because we have the details.
Metal Gear Mondays have officially begun at the Playstation blog, and the first entry details what’ll be happening when you get into MGO. Think of it as an instruction manual, except it’s an online blog instead of colorful pages telling you how to power on the console and not have seizures. When you first start up the game you’ll be asked to create a “Konami ID,” which is a service that keeps track of you within the community. You’ll also need to create a Metal Gear Online> ID, but that’ll be the end of it. Really. You’ll then go to a character creation screen, where your master soldier can be created. We’re not sure how robust it is, but I doubt anyone will be able to create characters from the main game. Just in case you had ambitions of playing MGO as Vamp. The Sons of Patriots (SOP) system will be in place, and you’ll be able to share info with your teammates in the game to gain the upper hand. MGO is going to rely heavily on your ability to communicate and work as a team. And yes indeed there are Man Cannons in the beta. So go forth and throw yourself across the two maps: Blood Bath and Groznyj Grad. Check out the Playstion blog for details on all the weapons and equipment that’ll be available when the Metal Gear Online beta gets going on April 21st. |
