Molyneux: Fable Development Destroyed Lives, Marriages

If you ask Fable II designer Peter Molyneux what the game's biggest accomplishment was, he won't point to any specific gameplay feature. What he's most proud of is that, unlike the first game, Fable II didn't ruin the developers' lives.

"If I’m honest, on Fable we just burnt people’s lives; we destroyed the team," said Molyneux in an interview with Develop. "Week after week, month after month, they worked 50, 60, 70, 80 hour weeks. It destroyed their lives and destroyed their marriages. You just can’t do that anymore."

He adds that while Lionhead "used up people’s whole weekends" toward the end of Fable II, "a lot of Sundays this studio was empty." Maybe they'll even get a Saturday or two off during Fable III's development as well, eh?
