The Serious Sam Collection Shoots Up Xbox 360 July 12th

I’d like to take this moment to discuss something serious with you fine readers. Serious Sam, that is. The over-the-top, gun-toting, one-liner-spouting, first-person shooting hero of awesomeness is about to invade the Xbox 360, again, in the forthcoming The Serious Sam Collection. It rolls four games into one. No, seriously. I’m being seriously serious here.

Charging toward the Xbox 360 for a July 12 release, The Serious Sam Collection will launch across the U.S. and Europe smack-dab in the middle of next month, offering four of the series’ biggest games full of bullets and alien scum to introduce said bullets to.

The Mastertronic Group made everything nice and official earlier today, announcing the upcoming collection alongside Croteam and Devolver Digital, the folks responsible for the original games, some spin-offs and HD remakes.

“A benchmark first-person shooter, Serious Sam follows the adventures of Sam ‘Serious’ Stone and his fight against the forces of the notorious extra-terrestrial overlord, Mental, who seeks to destroy humanity,” reads the press release. “The Serious Sam Collection contains some of the most legendary games in the series, allowing lifetime Serious Sam fans and newcomers alike a chance to blast through some of the most iconic shooters of all time.”

So what, exactly, does this amazing collection of badassary offer?

For starters, you can get your hands on Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, a fully remastered version of the game that kicked the whole series off.

The collection also includes Serious Same HD: The Second Encounder, as well as the more recent Serious Sam 3: BFE and its Jewel of the Nile DLC.

Finally, the 2D spin-off shooter, Serious Sam Double D XXL will round out the package, offering a side-scrolling blast-a-thon for up to two players with the ability to tape multiple weapons together in order to create some truly unique killing machines.

No price point has been set yet but, given the series’ light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek approach to action and adventure, I’m guessing we can expect to spend around Radical.
