A new developer documentary was released for the upcoming shooter, Rage, explaining how the world works, what the factions are like, the role of the player, the vehicle mechanics and some of the weapon’s you’ll be able to get your hands on. It’s a rather detailed video and anyone who is remotely interested in the upcoming FPS from id Software would probably want to check it out.
Rage is probably best described as Borderlands meets Fallout, with hint of Doom and a dash of Quake. Rage isn’t particularly original with its concept but it does seek to entrench gamers in a massive world that offers up plenty of interactivity. Much like Borderlands gamers will get around in the game world using upgradeable vehicles and fighting off other road-raging AI along the way.

Story-wise, the game takes a page out of the playbook of Icarus Studios’ Fallen Earth, where the player ends up on a grand adventure in a post-apocalyptic world. For the most part, though, most people don’t hop into a game made by id Software for its engaging storyline or detailed character profiles…people just want shoot stuff, and there’s plenty of it in Rage.

This is one of my most anticipated games of the year but at least it’s not just another standard-fare modern warfare shooter. So, props to id Software for not rehashing a tired concept.
