2012 MTV Movie Award Nominations Announced, The Hunger Games And Bridesmaids Top The List image
It's May, and with June officially just a month away, MTV is preparing for their annual celebration of movies. The nominations for the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards are in, and it looks like The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids are the films to beat this year, as both scored numerous nominations. Also repeated on the list, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Help and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.

In 2011, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took the top three awards (Best Movie, Best Female Performance, Best Male Performance). This year, you may note that while Breaking Dawn managed to make the list for Movie of the Year, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson didn't land spots in the Performance categories. Nudged out, perhaps, by the stars of the more recent young adult book adaptation, The Hunger Games (Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson). The Twilight stars did managed to secure a spot on the Best Kiss list.

You may also note the new categories on the list, including Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, Best On-Screen Transformation and Best On-Screen Dirtbag. Best Music has also been added, and that's unfortunately the only category that recognized Hanna. It would have been great for Saoirse Ronan to receive a nomination for her performance in the Joe Wright directed film, but then again, it's hard to argue against any of the nominations in the Best Female Performance category this year. Perhaps we'll see her on the list next year after The Host releases.

Here's the full list of nominations.
