Clint Eastwood is one of the few actors to make a perfect leap from acting into directing. In fact, he’s won two Oscars for directing (Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby) and none for acting—although he has a pretty big legion of fans (Go Dirty Harry!)

His desire to make movies apparently runs in the family. According to Hollywood Reporter, his daughter Alison Eastwood will make her directorial debut in Rail and Ties for Warner Independent Pictures. The actress/singer has appeared in an array of films including Poolhall Junkies and Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil.

The story of Rail and Ties, to put it mildly, is a bit of a downer. It begins on a lovely stretch of the California coastline, where a suicidal mother parks her car on a railroad crossing and awaits death with her 9-year-old son in the car. That really brings the phrase “misery loves company” to a whole other level of dysfunction. The story deals with two families and their interconnected problems. No production schedule has been set, but here's hoping Alison will make her daddy proud.
