English actress Andrea Riseborough has been gaining acclaim in the U.K. for several years now, thanks to eye-catching supporting roles in such intriguing British efforts as Mike Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky, and Nigel Cole's Made in Dagenham. However, even with her starring role in Madonna's historical drama W.E., in which Riseborough played scandalized divorcée Wallis Simpson, the raven-haired starlet hasn't yet managed to make a dent Stateside. But she may be on the verge of a breakthrough as THR has uncovered Riseborough has committed to co-star opposite Alexander Skarsgard in the horror-thriller Hidden.

The Warner Bros project centers on a family that is confined to a bomb shelter after fleeing the reach of an inexplicable outbreak. There, things presumably get intense as the world above them falls to ruin. Skarsgard will portray the husband/father, while Riseborough is being lined up to play his wife, and mother to his child. Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross, are writing and directing Hidden, which marks their feature debut following a string of chilling short films. While specifics on the plot are being closely guarded, Warner Bros has revealed they believe this claustrophobic tale of terror will elevate the horror-thriller genre. While that's some eyebrow-raising talk, casting two stars as otherworldly and charismatic as Riseborough and Skarsgard seems a good place to start.

Hidden, which has a projected release date in 2013, is expected to shoot later this year. In the meantime, Riseborough will be hit screens in the ensemble thriller Disconnect, which also features Skarsgard, and the Tom Cruise-fronted fantasy-adventure Oblivion, which is now filming.
