What in the world are we supposed to make of this movie Real Steel, in which Hugh Jackman plays a father living in a future where robots box each other and uses these competitions to bond with his child? If that weren't weird enough, it's being directed by Shawn Levy, who's made a mint with the Night at the Museum films but doesn't exactly seem to have "dystopian future" in his blood.

Now a kid has signed on to join the madness-- THR reports that 11-year-old Dakota Goyo will play Jackman's son, a "street-smart, tough, charming kid with a hard, untrusting outer shell which hides a warm enthusiastic spirit beneath." So, in other word, John Connor?

The only place you really would have seen Goyo before is 2007's Josh Hartnett vehicle Resurrecting the Champ, which I did not see so I've got nothin'. Production on the film begins in June. Is the world ready for another Dakota child star, so soon after Dakota Fanning became a full-fledged teen?
