Today is a big day for Tim Burton and Frankenweenie lovers alike. Disney is debuting Frankenweenie on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD, and to celebrate the tale of a boy who loved his pup so much he brought him back to life, Disney has put together some exclusive, never-before-released film stills to share with fans.

Before seeing Frankenweenie, I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy the black and white resolution of the animated fodder. However, in the still, especially, the pictures look crisp and clear, and I actually think it’s easier to spend time with all of the details going on within each frame, since there is no color to draw your eye to a specific focal point. The shadowing effects from the catcher’s mask and the other headwear are especially impressive in the above shot.

The second still takes a look at Weird Girl, who always reminded me a little of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series of books and movies. I really like this shot of her character, as her big, round, and completely bugged out eyes always seem to match her cat’s perfectly. Sometimes the humor in Burton’s work is really apparent, but I often like the subtler details.

Frankenweenie hits homes today in a set that comes chock full of bonus features, and will offer segments as varied as original shorts, behind-the-scenes footage, a look at the animation in the film, and even a music video. But don’t take my word on it, check out the full list yourself.

You can check out larger versions of the images, as well as four more exclusive stills from the movie, below. If you’d like to catch a more energetic look at the animation from the flick, you can also catch a few bonus clips from the film.
