First Theatrical Trailer For Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Arrives
Earlier this week we brought you the first ever look at Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, and while it was a cool tease, sadly it didn't show any of what we were really looking for: Daniel Day-Lewis as our 16th president. Sure, it showed him from the side, but we didn't get to see him speak, move, or really do anything other than stand there. That changes today.
During a live chat on Google+, Steven Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt introduced the first ever theatrical trailer for Lincoln. You can check it out below.
While introducing the world premiere of the trailer, Spielberg commented on what we should expect, saying that this is more of an offering of tone, and that the movie would be more about content. He also said of the film at large that many of us make a monument out of a man when thinking about Abraham Lincoln, and Spielberg wants this film to make a man out of a monument. I personally can't wait to see what he has in store for us.
Based partially on "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Spielberg's newest film chronicles Lincoln's time as president during the end of the Civil End, as the president worked within his government to abolish slavery in America once and for all. The absolutely stunning cast includes Day-Lewis, Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Sally Field, James Spader and many more. The movie will be in theaters on November 9th and you can read more about it in our Blend Film Database.
