Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty Gets A New Poster Featuring A Familiar Location
On May 2, 2011, a team of Navy SEALs called SEAL Team Six carried out the order for Operation Neptune Spear by invading a compound in Bilal Town, Abbottabad, Pakistan, finding Osama bin Laden, and killing him. And it's that very compound that is featured in the brand new poster for the upcoming Kathryn Bigelow movie Zero Dark Thirty. Check it out below.
The poster comes to us via Yahoo! and you can see the full size one-sheet over there.
Perhaps it's just because I know what the movie is about, but I'm surprised just how instantly recognizable the satellite photograph in the poster is. I spend more than my fair share of time searching around on Google Maps and looking at places like my home town and where I went to school, but the shape and layout of the building in the image is unmistakable for any other place. It's part of our history now and at the end of the year it will become part of our pop culture.
Due out on December 19th and currently in post-production, Zero Dark Thirty tells the true story about the hunt for Osama bin Laden and how the 9/11 orchestrator eventually met his end. The script was written by Mark Boal, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenlay thanks to his work on The Hurt Locker, and the film's all-star cast includes Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Chris Pratt, Scott Adkins, Mark Strong, Frank Grillo, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Ehle, Mark Duplass, Harold Perrineau and Taylor Kinney.
