Kristen Bell has gone Disney. She’s doing a rom-com for them and director Mark Steven Johnson in which she plays a single museum curator who steals magic coins from a fountain in Rome and suddenly finds herself pursued by a group of overly aggressive suitors. For Kristen Bell, that’s probably a Tuesday, but apparently for her character this is out of the ordinary.
HR says the movie is When in Rome, which is of course derived from the biblical proverb which goes “when in Rome steal something and run home.” The Apostle Paul came up with that one I believe. Terrible klepto Paul. Little known fact. Most people think he earned a living making tents, but the truth is he only used preaching as a way to distract people while he rifled through their pockets. Couldn’t help himself, poor fellow.
Kristen Bell seems to have no problem getting parts, though she’s yet to hit on anything big after the cancellation of her geek favored television series Veronica Mars. It’s not her fault really, it’s just that none of her movies have been released. Fanboys has been delayed indefinitely, for the eleventeenth time in a row. Forgetting Sarah Marshall won’t hit theaters for a few months, and in that she’s not the lead and instead kind of the bitch. It’s quite a jump to give Bell a starring role in her own rom-com, but I’m happy to see it, even though it’s almost certain to suck. Rom-coms always do. Still, if you have to make a meet-cute, magic pennies rom-com and you need a blonde with outrageous abs and nerdy fans, then why not Kristen Bell.
