With as often as we see Mel Gibson’s face, it’s easy to forget that he hasn’t actually acted in anything worth seeing since his 2002 role in Signs. Ironically, that was also the last time M. Night made something watchable, so maybe there’s some sort of correlation. Shyamalan had better hope so, because it looks like Mel is about to step back in front of the camera. Maybe Night’s next movie will be good for a change.
The news was picked up from HelloMagazine by our friends over at MovieHole. They say Mel Gibson and Denzel Washington will be teaming up to star in a movie called Under and Alone. The film is supposed to be a tough guy police thriller, though it’s unclear which actor will be the cop and which will be the crook doing the thrilling. Maybe it’ll be a re-enactment of one of Mel’s DUIs. Or maybe he should play the cop, having had plenty of experience getting arrested by them.
Whatever his personal troubles, Mel’s a supremely talented… well… everything. Have you seen Apocalypto? Gibson knows his way around, behind, and in front of a camera. He’s a triple threat writer, director, and actor. Bring it on Mel, you may be a scumbag lunatic but you’re also a cinematic badass.

I think it's great that he will be in front of the camera again, but come on - he's no scumbag. The man has done more charity work than Brangelina combined - he just doesn't tell everyone everytime he drops a dime.
I agree with JC, Mel is no scumbag. He's got some probs. But come on, who doesn't. At least he admits it. And he's got more guts than any actor in Hollywood history as far as I am concerned. He puts his money where his mouth is.
In short, he's legendary, Not Pitt,Cruise,Hanks or even Spielberg.
Mel is one of Hollwood's greatest actors. Everybody knows that. Nowadays he proved that he's very good behind the camera, giving us three good films tho controversial. So its kinda obvious that he'd be a target to controversies. They come and go, but people should learn to just let it go. Many people drinks and shouts. Infact (seriously) walk in the streets and one can find out that other people shout far more worse statements than what Mel Gibson.
