Former ‘O.C’ star Mischa Barton will try to find something to preface her name besides “former ‘O.C.’ star” by starring in Roland Joffe's Russian coming-of-age drama Finding t.A.T.u., according to Variety.
The film is not about a young woman’s obsession with body art, instead it’s about her obsession with lesbian pop-music. The t.A.T.u. in question is the gay for pay female pop duo of the same name who had five or six minutes of international popularity a few years ago. Their day in the sun is long gone though, so it’s hard to believe anyone would care about them enough to see them stalked in a movie. Mischa Barton however, is willing to try.
Finding t.A.T.u. is about a lonely American teenager (Barton) in Moscow who befriends a Russian girl over their shared obsession with t.A.T.u.. Variety describes it as “set against a background of music, Internet chatrooms and hedonistic Russian nightlife,” which probably means drugs, dry humping, and drunken lesbian kissing for Mischa’s character. We can only hope.
