Early this week the Spider-Man 4 casting rumor mill kicked into high gear with a tasty tidbit from the Latino Review in which they threw out two possible names to replace Tobey Maguire. Their sources told them that Patrick Fugut and Michael Angarano might be up for the role of Peter Parker as the franchise moves forward.
That rumor has now been officially denied. Sony Pictures sent us an email today decrying the rumor. They say, “the information is unsupported and not true.” And if that's not clear enough, they add: "This rumor is ridiculously untrue." I guess that makes it safe to declare this rumor dead. I hope this doesn’t mean Spider-Man 4 is dead as well, but if Sony cares enough to run around debunking rumors like this then perhaps it’s safe to assume they also care about Spider-Man 4, and may indeed be moving forward with it.
