There are a lot of great things about Comic-Con but none more so than watching famous people turn into fans. It’s easy to forget sometimes, but celebrities actually get obsessed over the same kinds of things us normal folk do. Let the record show Stephen Colbert is one of them. He’s been hardcore into JRR Tolkien for most of his life, and today, he reminded everyone of that by randomly showing up at Comic-Con to take part in The Hobbit panel.

As you can see in the above picture, the late night host and future David Letterman successor showed up in the same outfit he wore during his cameo in The Hobbit 2, or as only hardcore Tolkien fans bother calling it The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug. Or as all the dumbshits you know likely call it, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smog.

You can check out Colbert decked out in the actual movie below…

Now that’s a handsome, nerdy devil having the time of his life. Humorously, looking around Hall H, there seems to be quite a few handsome nerdy devils having the time of their lives here too, as Stephen Colbert is absolutely killing it on the microphone, while simultaneously dropping the nerd knowledge hammer. Even Tolkien himself would have loved it.
