Thor Hammers Out September Home Release Date![]()
Thor was one of the biggest surprised of the year so far. Seriously, I’d put money on one of this summer’s superhero flicks being the biggest flop, Thor would have got my money long before Green Lantern, even in spite of the craptacular nature of the early GL trailers. I mean, sure, most people hadn’t heard of Green Lantern, and a movie about a space cop who wears growing green tights, makes giant boxing gloves with his brain, and is powered by a lantern, that’s a hard sell. But Thor? He’s, well, he’s Thor. Forsooth.
But while X-Men: First Class is still the best comic-book flick of the summer, Thor turned out to be a pleasant surprise. If you’re one of the folks who shied away because you didn’t care about the source material or weren’t won over by the marketing, you’ll have a second chance to give the God of Thunder a second glance come September. Marvel Studios and Paramount Home Entertainment have scheduled the Blu-ray and DVD release of Thor for September 13th. The release follows the pattern of ever-expanding combo packs: it will be available as both a three-disc pack (3D Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy) and a two-disc version (Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy). Both sets will include “over 80 minutes of bonus features, although the press release doesn’t lay these out in detail. We do know we’ll be getting featurettes focusing on the Marvel universe, director Kenneth Branagh, and the upcoming Avengers movie. |
