Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine Shows Off A Moody Cate Blanchett In First Image
There are stranger things in the world than Woody Allen keeping the plot to one of his films under lock and key, but there are few less sensible. It doesn't seem likely that there are hordes of people out there theorizing all the story points of one of Allen's generally wordy features. Sometimes the biggest surprise his films have to offer, such as with Scoop or You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, is how non-essential the critics and fans consider them.
Thanks to Collider, the first image from Allen's next film Blue Jasmine has arrived, and while itís a colorful image and all, it offers little to clue anyone in on the story, which has been described in a press release as ďthe story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife.Ē Take a look at the crisis-free image below.
Admittedly, Blanchett looks like sheís had better days in wartime, but the casual way Sally Hawkins is just hanging around in the background means there probably isnít anything like a fist fight or an alien invasion going on in the foreground. The most notable part of this picture is the door behind Blanchett has curtains on the outside instead of the inside. You donít see that often, am I right?
Perhaps this was a smart image to lead with, as it doesn't go overboard showing off the rest of Blue Jasmine amazing cast, which includes Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay, Peter Sarsgaard, Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Stuhlbarg in addition to the actresses already mentioned. The film will get a limited release on July 26, 2013 before going wider a few weeks later.
