Miley Cyrus Cries Over Dog, Sings Landslide In His Honor

Miley Cyrus’ beloved Alaskan Klee Kai unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday. The dog, named Floyd, would have soon been 4 years old and was believed to have died of natural causes. Heartbroken and devastated, Cyrus still performed that night in Boston, dedicating an old Fleetwood Mac song "Landslide" to her pup. Cyrus addressed her Boston fans prior to singing, explaining her choice of song and what it meant for her late dog Floyd.

”I'm sure you guys already know, but the reason that I'm so upset is my dog, I shouldn't say he was my favorite but he was my favorite, he passed away. I just wanna do a song for him. We used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together, it's his favorite song…so I wanna do this song for Floyd.”

E Online says Miley first broke the news via Twitter announcing that it was the second worst day of her life. Cyrus continued to send sadness to her over 17 million followers expressing a sense of mourning and maybe just a hint of melodrama…

I say that lightly knowing how rough it can be to lose something that you consider family and the rest of the world just sees as an animal. Miley has a long history with adopting dogs from shelters and was believed at one point to have owned six dogs at once: Floyd, Lila, Ziggy, Penny Lane, Mary Jane, and Happy. In 2012, Miley lost Lila due to an altercation with Ziggy and she ended up having to rehome Ziggy after putting Lila down. Many sources are citing this incident as to why Cyrus on Twitter said it was the “second” worst day of her life.

Despite her sadness, the show must, and has gone on for Miley, but that isn’t to say, however, that she has been all sunshine and smiles on stage. Fans have said there have been pauses between songs where she has expressed sadness and cried, and a recent video surfaced of her breaking down mid song during a soundcheck and getting a hug from her younger brother Noah. Cyrus' last couple tweets have expressed improvement, with her most recent being a picture of her cuddling with her dog Mary Jane.
