Anyone who thought Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would largely blend into the background during this evening’s Golden Globes telecast was sorely mistaken. In fact, their brash and occasionally mean monologue drew a huge response on both Twitter and inside the awards ceremony. Fortunately, an overwhelming majority of it was positive.

You can take a look at their introduction below…

By almost any measure, that monologue has to be considered a home run. It got several extremely big pops of laughter, and none of the jokes were complete misses. Clearly, the audience was ready to laugh and was feeling a ton of good will toward the ladies, but as for whether they could reclaim the magic during a future telecast, that’s a question very much unanswered.

Personally, I’d like to see Fey and Poehler try again, but it’s completely fair to wonder whether these two should simply leave this a one-off success. Ricky Gervais was magical the first two times, but because his last performance was only meh, people have largely forgotten how good he was.

What did you think? Should Amy and Tina get back on the horse again, or should they smile knowing they did well and leave it at that? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
