Watch Simon Pegg And Nick Frost Cover Daft Punk's Get Lucky
By Jessica Rawden 2 years ago
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are two of the funniest motherf*ckers alive when appearing in comedy films, but this week they proved they are also hilarious when improvising musical numbers. Recently the two men popped up on the London radio program Capital Breakfast, joining hosts Dave and Lisa, in order to talk about their new movie The World’s End. They also ended up performing a rendition of Daft Punk’s hit song of the summer “Get Lucky.”
Pegg starts the song off, talking into the mike rather than actually attempting singing. Frost then takes on the task of the falsetto portion of the song and the two do a hilarious rendition of the hot summer track, which highlights the ridiculousness of the lyrics and turns the song into a comedic moment.
I’m an unabashed fan of both tracks on Random Access Memories featuring Pharrell Williams’ vocals, but occasionally it’s fun to poke at a song that’s gained prominence in popular culture, and Pegg and Frost’s rendition proves just that. At least, Dave and Lisa seem to be having a good time, dancing around in the studio as Frost and Pegg keep the joke running for several minutes. If you want to know more about the lengthy interview, you can check out the radio show over at Capital FM.
If you are not a fan of the comedians poking fun at the hit song, you can go ahead and wash that performance out of your mind by catching the actual Daft Punk video, featuring Pharrell and Nile Rodgers, below.
Pegg and Frost’s rendition isn’t the first time someone has tried something comedic with “Get Lucky.” Earlier this month, Stephen Colbert was expected to have Daft Punk on the show, but the group was eventually barred from appearing so that they could pop up on the MTV VMAs last weekend. Though one doesn’t seem to have much to do with the other, Colbert was put into a bit of a bind. The show instead featured a humorous video featuring a slew of celebrities all dancing around to the song.
