It's already looking like 2013 is going to be another good year for funny women. Just last night, MTV revealed that Bridesmaids' Rebel Wilson was set to host the MTV Movie Awards, and we already knew that NBC has 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler on board to host the Golden Globes, which air early next year. The Peacock has offered another reminder of the hosting duo set up for the awards show with a new promo featuring Fey and Poehler.
With the 2013 Golden Globe nominations announced, NBC wasted no time reminding us that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are hosting the event by releasing a new promo, which has the two hosts practicing their hosting voices in anticipation of the big night. Fortunately, they have a month to work on that. Watch the promo ahead!
The nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes are in, and while there aren't a lot of huge surprises among the list of TV nominees, things weren't exactly status quo either. In fact, only two of the five nominated dramas are repeats from last year. And the same goes for the comedies, which may make both categories a bit trickier to predict.
Come next month, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will take the stage at the Golden Globe Awards to host the event, which celebrates some of the best movies and television have had to offer in the past year. The nominations for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards were announced today, and the nominees include a mixture of new and returning shows, with Smash, Girls and Nashville among some of the new series acknowledged with nominations.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have a few key things in common. They both rose to fame through their roles on Saturday Night Live, they're both currently starring in NBC Thursday night comedies, and they're both especially funny women who deserve the credit they receive for what they bring to television. Oh, and they're both hosting the Golden Globes next year!
One of the best moments from Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards was the showdown between former television nemeses Stringer Bell and Detective Jimmy McNulty. Dominic West (McNulty) walked away empty handed for his performance in The Hour while Idris Elba (Bell) went home with the big prize for his stunning turn in Luther. If you haven't been watching the fantastic BBC America series, now's your chance because, in honor of Elba's award win, BBC there's a Luther marathon scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
While Ricky Gervais says he “had a blast” hosting the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards this past Sunday night, the comedian is done for good with the job... or so it seems, based on recent comments. Gervais took to his blog this week to weigh in with his thoughts on the Golden Globes and share a picture of himself during what may be a backstage moment at the event.
I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that last night’s Golden Globes didn’t feature quite enough Ricky Gervais. The host took the stage numerous and fired a few comedic shots into the crowd, some of which hit and others not so much, but over all, it sounds like NBC was pleased with his efforts.
Tonight, the Hollywood Foreign Press celebrated film and television from the past year with the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Cable dominated in the TV categories, securing most of the awards, with ABC’s Modern Family representing network television. It was a good night for premium cable.
The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards air tonight, celebrating some of the best of the last year’s film and television. We’re live-blogging the event and updating the winners. You can join in on the fun and weigh in with your opinions live as it all plays out. How will Ricky Gervais do as host this time around? Will our favorites take home awards? Who’s
The 69th Golden Globe Awards air tonight and Ricky Gervais is back as host. After last year's great performance, resulting 'ban' and then ensuing re-hire it hasn't been the smoothest road back behind the podium but the one thing that hasn't shaken at all is the comedian himself. Throughout the turmoil, Gervais continued to stand behind his performance and state that if he would ever come back, he not only wouldn't change a thing but he would up the ante. So that's what we have to look forward to tonight.
The Golden Globe Awards may play second fiddle to the more prestigious Emmys or Academy Awards but the mere fact that they've brought back Ricky Gervais as host almost guarantees that the show itself will be second to none. Even with the big hubbub about his hosting job last year, when all those celebrities got their egos in a knot, NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association decided to give the playful comic another shot and roasting the room.
One of the things I love about the Golden Globes is that the nominations seem less predictable than other awards shows. At the very least, the Hollywood Foreign Press is willing to reward new programs and performances, which usually makes for some fairly diverse nominations. There were a couple of hits and a few misses among this years nominations.
The Golden Globes nominations were announced this morning. Which TV shows will be recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press this year? It wasn’t all predictable for this year’s nominations as some new shows managed to make the list, including Fox’s New Girl and Showtime’s Episodes, among the comedies nominated.
Ricky Gervais must be one of the busiest people in show business. Perhaps not one of the busiest people in Hollywood, mind you (even if he's hosting the Golden Globes), because, unlike a lot of talented people who find success in America, the majority of his projects are still developed and aired on British television. However, that doesn't mean we don't get to enjoy the funny promos for all of his series, including these new spots for An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List.
