If you are looking to attract more notice to a song, one way to do it is to hire a sexy actor and ask him to take his shirt off. That seems to be Cut Copy’s philosophy with the group’s latest single “Free Your Mind,” which follows Alexander Skarsgard playing a cult leader in a really weird setting.
Taylor Swift may not be particularly lucky in the love, but the 23-year-old knows how to keep Nashville smitten with her. The “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer unveiled the Taylor Swift Education Center on Saturday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Music City, showing the press and some local high school students the space before the ribbon was officially cut.
Just a few days ago, the Jonas Brothers’ band page and Twitter feed were abuzz with excitement regarding the band’s tour, which was set to kick off on October 11. But on Wednesday the three brothers in the band, 25-year-old Kevin, 24-year-old Joe, and 21-year-old Nick, mutually decided the band would not hit the road. The decision was made only two days before the guys were set to tour.
One of these great things was using the lesser known Badfinger song from the 70s, “Baby Blue,” to close out one of the most memorable television shows of all time. Though the music team for the show didn’t initially agree with creator Vince Gilligan’s choice of song, “Baby Blue” has now blown up on outlets like iTunes and Spotify.
Every time I listen to Britney Spears’ new song “Work Bitch,” I feel a little bit like I’m going to stroke out. Regardless of whether you like the fast-tempo of the pop singer’s newest single, there’s one thing that we can be certain of while watching the video for “Work Bitch”: Spears did indeed work to really whip that body into shape. The song may not make me want a Maserati, but it does make me wish I had the abs the 31-year-old mom of two is rocking.
We’re used to music leaking before a release, but buyers are a little less used to major spoilers being revealed before a new book hit the market. As the last sentence notes, this article is going to contain a huge reveal concerning Helen Fielding’s new book in the Bridget Jones canon, so if you don’t want to know anything, do not proceed.
Katy Perry’s new song, “Walking on Air,” sounds quite a bit different than her recent single, “Roar.” While “Roar” is a rather empowering and uplifting track, “Walking on Air” is a club thumper with a lot of spirit. Even Perry’s voice sounds a little different on the new track.
Demi Lovato made an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning to talk about her career as well as her role on Fox’s The X Factor. However, the appearance also served as a great forum for the 21-year-old singer to discuss the fact that she is prepping to head back on the road, and she’ll do so with one of the acts who formerly competed on Fox’s singing competition series.
The Weeknd’s latest video for the song “Pretty” starts out fairly ominously with edgy music complimenting the landing of a plane. Then, The Weeknd’s smooth voice pops in, and while it’s a little assuring, he’s clearly a pretty upset dude. The song is from the singer’s debut album Kiss Land, and it’s all about a girl who is cheating on the R&B singer.
British folk band Mumford & Sons has had a busy and sometimes tumultuous year. Thanks to Sigh No More, the group has become something of a phenomenon; so when the guys put out a new album, Babel, last fall and scheduled a major tour through 2013, it was assumed the series of gigs would be a bit of a headache.
Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience dropped in March, selling almost a million copies in its first week. The lengthy album has spawned several successful singles, including “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors.” Now that Timberlake is back in the music business, he’s showing no signs of stopping. Late Thursday, the singer released the audio for his latest song, “TKO.”
It’s hard to believe that it has been 22 years since Pearl Jam put out its debut album, Ten. It’s also difficult to believe that the band is gearing up for its 10th studio album, Lightning Bolt, an endeavor that has been in the works for a while, now. This week the band released the second single off of Lightning Bolt, called “Sirens,” and it’s about what you might expect from a mid-tempo ballad from the group.
On Sunday, Britney Spears woke up and found that a low quality version of her brand new single “Work Bitch” had leaked. Spears and her team worked to go ahead and push up the release of the new single so that fans could hear the real deal and now the track is available over at her VEVO site.
Fiona Apple is a stone cold weirdo who does whatever the hell she wants. Pick a twenty-three word album name? Check. Cancel a tour out of respect for her dog? Check. Write a dirty song with Zach Galifianakis? Check. If nothing else, she’s the exact opposite of the type of artist who would partner with a big company purely for profit, and humorously, her new commercial seems to prove that.
In the case of some of the worst timing ever, singer Ariana Grande was recently forced to go on vocal rest. The 20-year-old just saw the debut of her freshman album, Yours Truly, drop this week. Following this, she became the first female debut since Ke$ha’s Animal to land the #1 slot on the Billboard 200 album charts. Shortly after the album dropped, the singer was told by her doctor’s she needed to go on vocal rest.
