Defiance is set to ship in early April to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and, while the online massively multiplayer third-person shooter will be free-to-play following an initial purchase of the core game, Trion Worlds has plans to keep the content rolling following launch, adding all sorts of new goodies to the game. For those who want to save a little money, the publisher is offering a Season Pass for the first batch of DLC content.
The retail release of Trion Worlds and Syfy's third-person, MMO action-shooter, Defiance, will be handled by none other than Namco Bandai, the famed publishers behind Tekken, Naruto and DragonBall Z. The game is scheduled to ship to a retailer near-you this spring, on April 2nd.
Defiance, the upcoming SyFy Channel action sci-fi game/TV show is continuing to ramp up on the promo material and the latest bit is a look at a group of bandits who raid and pillage the surrounding communities, appropriately called Raiders. Envision a group of non-law abiding individuals who rampage in ugly vehicles and shoot everything in sight with big guns.
Wasteland rebels? Check. Cutoff gloves? Check. Dystopian environments? Check. Gruffy looking vehicles with dusty gear? Check. Looks like the upcoming Defiance completes the basic measures for being a futuristic, wasteland cyberpunk adventure and the new live-action trailer aims to drill that concept into the ground as a bunch of rebels battle giant crab monsters.
Defiance, the MMO third-person shooter that ties in with the upcoming SyFy show by the same name, is set to arrive in April and, starting today, eager Ark hunters can get their hands on four types of pre-order packages for the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
Console gamers don't get many open-world games. There's Red Dead, Just Cause, GTA, Elder Scrolls and Saints Row but outside of the major players there's just a major lack of open-world titles. SyFy and Trion Worlds are hoping to buck trends by providing both Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers with the same kind of original gameplay and open-world PVP mechanics present in many PC titles.
If there's one thing DayZ taught us it's that just because a game is in the state of being a buggy mess during alpha, it can still be loads of fun. The problem with a lot of other bigger budget titles is that they try to use a lot of tried and tired concepts to sell a game with little to no innovation, and that's sort of how Defiance looks in the latest video.
A new developer diary has surfaced for the upcoming Trion Worlds game, Defiance. The game is based on the TV show of the same name which is set to air on the Syfy channel during the 2013 season. While I have zero hope that the show will be any good, the game appears to contain a few noteworthy features, including open-world gameplay, class-free customization and lots of cool vehicles.
Rift creators Trion World are developing an MMO shooter based on the upcoming television series Defiance. This weekend they released the very first gameplay trailer from the multiplatform title.
