Of Course There's A Story About Chris Farley And Brownies At An SNL Afterparty

Olivia Wilde has done a lot of cool things during her acting career, but her brushes with stardom began occurring at a much younger age, thanks to her journalist parents. Once, they even dragged her to an SNL afterparty, where her young self was completely enamored about the whole event. Luckily, she met Chris Farley, and he changed the night forever for her. Here’s Wilde’s story about Chris Farley and one memorable SNL story. Of course, there are brownies involved.

I was at an afterparty for Saturday Night Live, which was a big treat for me. I was a fat kid, and I was standing by a dessert table, as usual, and I was standing there eating a brownie self-consciously. Chris Farley walked up, locked eyes with me, took a brownie and put it in his mouth, then took another brownie and put it in his mouth and then another and then started slamming them into his mouth. And it was all to delight a child. He took time out of his party to come over and make me laugh. It was just so moving and so sweet.

Wilde appeared on last night's episode of the Late Late Show with James Corden, where she revealed she met Farley when she was just 10 years of age. The story she told is similar to many Farley stories that are running around the internet—although this may be the first one we’ve heard about brownies—but Farley was often noted as being a kind and generous guy who put other people before himself. It’s not surprising that this story eventually surfaced.

As part of the nineties Saturday Night Live cast, the actor and performer brought to life such excellent characters as Matt Foley, a Gap girl, a Chippendale’s dancer and more, as part of a major cast that included Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider back in the early nineties. He tragically died from a drug overdose in 1997 but left behind a legacy or memorable stories and roles.

But don’t take it from me. You can hear the full story from Wilde herself, below.

Seth Meyers’ late night program is more known for dredging up old SNL stories than The Late Late Show, but we’re glad James Corden got this one out of Oliva Wilde, nonetheless. You can catch new episodes of the CBS talk show on weeknights at 12:35 p.m. ET.
