America's Got Talent Gets A June Premiere Date

Shortly after finalizing its judging lineup for Season 8, NBC’s hit summer series, America’s Got Talent, has been given a premiere date. The zany and popular talent competition show will return to the schedule on Tuesday, June 4. The show usually runs for multiple nights and its Wednesday timeslot will begin the following week on July 10.

Last season, America’s Got Talent became the #1 rated show in the 18-49 demographic. This year, the series is going through some changes in the judging department, most noticeably replacing Sharon Osbourne with two different judges after the long-time participant opted to exit the program. First, former Spice Girl Mel B. signed on to try her hand at judging the talent competition. Then, to add a little star power, Project Runway’s Heidi Klum also joined the program. The two ladies sit alongside returning judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel on the panel and, as usual, Nick Cannon is set to host.

Last summer, Osbourne was often the voice of reason when Stern and Mandel disagreed, and I think having two more voices on the panel will help to shake things up moving forward. I just wonder how the series will plan to break a tie. We’ll have to wait to find out how things shake down when the live episodes of the show begin later in July, with an episode from 9-11 on Tuesday and a shorter, one-hour episode on Wednesday from 8-9 p.m. ET.

America’s Got Talent will premiere on NBC on June 4 at 9 p.m. ET.
