Anna Faris Joins Chuck Lorre's Mom Pilot
Last month, CBS announced it had bought another “top prospect” comedy from top dog Chuck Lorre, who has produced such hits as The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, and Two and a Half Men over at CBS. Now the comedy pilot, which is currently rolling with the title Mom, has earned a top notch lead actress in Anna Faris.
Deadline is reporting that Faris will star in the Mom pilot as a single mother who has only recently dealt with her alcohol dependency issues. Still living in Napa Valley, Faris’ character will try to get her life in order and maintain control over her life. While this premise sounds more dramatic than humorous, with Lorre and Faris on board, the project should be able to capably come up with the laughs. Two and a Half Men executive producer Eddie Gorodetsky and story editor Gemma Baker are also co-writing the project.
Faris is mostly known for starring in movies like The House Bunny, but some of her more recent films, including What’s Your Number? and Take Me Home Tonight haven’t been the biggest of box office successes. A starring role in a TV pilot has the potential to give the actress a steady gig and income that will likely keep her much closer to home. Still, the pilot has to get picked up to series before Faris’ move to TV is cemented. Would you like to see the former Friends surrogate return to network television?
