‘Arrested Development’ fans will be happy to know that MSN, HD Net and G4 have picked up the rights to the episodes of the cancelled show. For the first time ever, the show will be run on both the Web and Cable simultaneously and it’s also the first time the rights to any show have been bought by a Web portal.
The episodes will begin airing on MSN and HDNet this fall (September). MSN will offer the show free of charge and has plans to create a Web Space centering on the show in the hopes of offering a community for ‘Arrested Development’ fans who aren’t ready to let go of the it.
Though the show won an Emmy in 2004 and has a substantial fan base, it wasn’t enough to keep it on the air. Many viewers and critics believe ‘Arrested Development’ was yanked well before its time. MSN, HDNet and G4 have the rights to the show for a three-year window so that should give the fans who cant afford the DVD sets a couple of years to obsess over the show and hopefully accept its demise in time.
