It looks as though CBS is doing a temporary time slot shuffle, which will affect when their popular cop-drama Blue Bloods airs for a few weeks.

CBS hasn’t posted the official word on the matter but according to Michael Ausiello over at Deadline, the network is going to temporarily shift Blue Bloods over to Wednesday nights, beginning January 19th. It will air at 10 p.m. on Wednesday nights for four weeks after which it will return to its Friday night 10 PM time slot on February 11th.

Also being shifted is The Defenders, which is being moved from Wednesdays at 10 to Fridays at 8 starting February 4, 2011, filling in the void left by Medium. On any other network, I’d say a move to Fridays was bad news, but if Blue Bloods success (12.3 million viewers) is any indication, it’s that Friday night doesn’t have to be the end of the line for a series… on CBS, anyway. The Defenders wasn't exactly suffering in the ratings on Wednesday nights but we'll have to see how the shift to Fridays works out for the show.

The Criminal Minds spinoff Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will take over the Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot on February 16th.
