FX's Anger Management Casts Shawnee Smith As A Female Lead

While word continues to trickle in pilot orders among the networks, Anger Management has already received a 10-episode order from FX, which leaves casting as the next major concern. Who will star alongside Charlie Sheen in the comedy series? News that one of the two female leads has been cast was announced today.

According to Deadline, Shawnee Smith is set to play the part of Charlie Sheen’s character’s ex-wife in the TV series, which is based on the comedy film by the same name. The site notes that Smith’s character is “searching for a life path after leaving in CHarlie’s shadow for a long time.”

Becker fans might recognize Smith from her role as Linda on the series. She was also Amanda in some of the Saw movies. think I know her best for her performance as Julie Lawry in the 1994 TV miniseries based on Stephen King’s The Stand. She attempted to engage in a bit of post-apocalyptic drug store lovin' with Rob Lowe’s character Nick (The Walking Dead's Maggie and Glenn would likely approve of the attempt). Smith's role in The Stand wasn't all that extensive but the bit of roof-top shooting that went on made it memorable.

As for the other female lead, Deadline says the decision is pending and that Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions) and Elaine Hendrix (Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, The Parent Trap) did the final network test today.
