Another Battlestar Galactica vet has signed on for the NBC pilot helmed by BSG mastermind Ron Moore. British actor James Callis has been cast alongside the equally British former BSG star Jamie Bamber in 17th Precinct.

Last month, reported that Jamie Bamber, who played Lee “Apollo” Adama on Battlestar Galactica was cast in Ron Moore’s 17th Precinct. The pilot is a cop drama that focuses on a town where magic and supernatural elements exist (and are presumably involved in either the crimes or the crime solving… or both). Bamber is set to play Caolan, a crime scene detective.

Today TV Line reported that James Callis has been cast as a homicide detective in the pilot. Callis played weasely genius (sometimes cult leader-prophet-guy) Gaius Baltar in Battlestar Galactica.

Also set to star in the pilot is Stockard Channing and Matt Long. Many probably associate Channing with her role as Rizzo in Grease (among many other roles). Matt Long played Joey in the last season of Mad Men. You may also remember him as Amanda Bynes' love interest in (one of my favorite guilty-pleasure rom-coms) Sydney White.

17th Precinct’s premise sounds interesting. Between that, the cast and Moore’s involvement, I think this one stands a better than average chance of getting picked up. We’ll see.
