Syfy's Riverworld To Air In April

Syfy announced the premiere date for the four-hour movie titled Riverworld. Fans of Battlestar Galactica’s Tahmoh Penikett and/or Smallville’s Laura Vandervoort might want to check this one out as the film stars both actors, who play an engaged couple who get separated in the afterlife.

That’s what the premise sounds like anyway, based on the description Syfy posted (below). Penikett’s recent work includes a starring role in the gone-but-not-forgotten Fox series Dollhouse, but he’s also known well by Battlestar Galactica fans for his role as Helo in the also-cancelled (and also-not-forgotten) series. Among Vandervoort’s TV credits are the recurring role of Kara in Smallville a few years back, and more recently, the part of Lisa in ABC’s V.

Riverworld is set to air on Syfy next month. Below is the description as posted by Syfy.

Riverworld - Four hours, premieres Sunday, April 18, from 7-11PM (ET/PT) -- Matt Ellman (Tahmoh Penikett, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse) is an American war zone reporter, killed along with his fiancée Jessie (Laura Vandervoort, Smallville) by a suicide bomber. They awaken separated in a mysterious world where everyone who has ever lived on Earth seems to have been "reborn" along the banks of a seemingly endless river. Determined to locate Jessie, Matt joins forces with a 13th century female samurai warrior Tomoe (Jeananne Goossen) and American novelist Sam "Mark Twain" Clemens (Mark Deklin).
