TNT's Dallas Continuation Starts To Cast

TNT's Dallas spinoff is starting to gain some traction. The project had encountered a fairly big snag after Larry Hagman, best known for playing J.R., decided to hold out for more oil money, but now he's verbally committed, joining throwbacks Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy who will once again play Sue Ellen and Bobby. Not a reboot, the show will follow two cousins, John and Christopher, that engage in a bitter war over the future of the Ewing fortune. Neither of the aforementioned two principals have been cast, but a third major character is all set to go.

According to TV Line, Jordana Brewster will play a ranch cook's daughter named Elena that falls for both cousins. It's always nice to see a show that writes drama right into the main cast descriptions. I haven't seen a second of this show and already I know there's financial issues, broken hearts and class warfare. No wonder Hagman, Duffy and Gray are all on board.

I have a feeling people will watch this, the only question is how many. With an elevated budget and a timeslot on basic cable, Dallas is going to need a minimum of several million viewers to stay afloat. I love well done soap operas; so, I hope to God other people bother tuning in.
