The Walking Dead Marathon And Season 4 Preview Weekend Set For Fourth Of July image
Who says you need to spend the Fourth of July outdoors? Why not celebrate your independence by stocking the bunker, boarding up the windows and holing up for days watching The Walking Dead? AMC's not providing the canned goods or Samurai swords but they are providing a lot of Walking Dead episodes between Thursday, July 4 and Sunday, July 7. And it isn't just a marathon AMC is offering. They're calling it, "The Walking Dead Season 4 Preview Weekend," which means, in addition to getting caught up on all three of the zombie series' seasons, we'll also get behind-the-scenes footage from the upcoming fourth season.

The preview weekend will be hosted by none other than Comic Book Men's Kevin Smith (see also Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Smodcast). For the preview portion of this long-weekend event, Smith will host from the Atlanta-based set where the cast members are currently filming Season 4. Smith will speak with the cast and present behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the show, which hopefully means we'll get some exciting glimpses of what's being filmed for the series. And the timing seems about right for that. So far, only a few teases for Season 4 have been made available. There's the Behind-the-Scenes video that was released, but doesn't give much away about the plot of the new season or the characters. And the photo of Rick in the woods, which is also kind of vague. While AMC has yet to officially confirm that TWD will be back at Comic Con later next month, it's probably safe to assume that the series (and Robert Kirkman's comic book on which the series is based) will both be featured at the convention. If that's the case, we may get our first full trailer for the new season. In the meantime, it'll be exciting to see what tidbits are offered during this marathon.

As for the episode schedule, AMC has the full schedule listed below. The marathon kicks off Thursday, July 4 at 1:00 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. Season 4 will debut in October, and the Season 3 DVD set is set to release in August
