Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina DLC: Watch The First Five Minutes Now

This week will bring a new Borderlands 2 downloadable content pack called "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep." The first five minutes of gameplay footage have been released by Gearbox to get you ready for launch.

In "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep," the cast of the original Borderlands is playing a game of "Bunkers and Badasses." B&B is the Borderlands equivalent of the pen-and-paper game Dungeons and Dragons. The DLC is the adventure that "Bunker Master" Tiny Tina has devised for the B&B session.

The new area seen in this footage, Flamerock Refuge, gives off a strong medieval fantasy vibe. Players will encounter golems, orcs and more. If you're getting sick of the enemy types in Borderlands 2, the new range of foes in "Tiny Tina" should make this fresh again.

The weapons available are still the usual Borderlands 2 assortment of guns and grenades. However, the weapons you'll find have a fantasy twist to them. For example, a shotgun called SWORDSPLOSION!!! will actually fire exploding swords at enemies. The grenades, with names like Magic Missile and Fireball, have effects and flight paths that make them look like magical spells rather than thrown explosives. A few sample items can be seen in the gallery below.

Like any pen-and-paper game, "Assault on Dragon Keep" is evolving on the fly. The world changes according to Tiny Tina's whims. For example, she decides to change the weather from sunny to cloudy to make Flamerock Refuge look more sinister. She also kills the party with an invincible dragon, then decides to revive them to make the game more sporting. She also replaces the dragon with a diminuitive skeleton named "Mister Boney Pants Guy."

Tiny Tina got dragged through the mud in a racism debate a few months back. I think she's a great character to headline this DLC, though. She's so off-the-wall that I think she'll be a great Bunker Master, bouncing between coddling players and punishing them.

"Tiny Tina" will debut on June 25th on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It's the fourth and final story-based DLC included in the Season Pass. It can also be purchased individually for $10. I'll probably opt for the latter, as this add-on seems like it's a cut above the others.
