The middle of the month has arrived, and Microsoft has updated what gets swapped in and what gets swapped out for the free Games With Gold. Gamers looking to expand their library on the Xbox 360 or Xbox One can do so with two additional free games for the month of October.

Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings - Available from October 1-31 on Xbox One
The Escapists - Available from October 16- November 15 on Xbox One

MX vs ATV Reflex - Available from October 1-15 on Xbox 360 & Xbox One
I Am Alive - Available from October 16-31 on Xbox 360 & Xbox One

Gamespot did a quick piece highlighting that Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China and MX vs ATV Reflex being cycled out of the free Games With Gold program for two more games to take their place. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China was available for the Xbox One while MX vs. ATV Reflex was made available for the Xbox 360. Both games were available for free for those who were subscribed as Xbox Live Gold members up until the middle of October.

MX vs ATV Reflex

Now that those aforementioned games have been moved out of the cycle, two more games have taken their place. Xbox One owners can now get their hands on the pixelated smash hit called The Escapists, while Xbox 360 owners will be able to get their hands on I Am Alive.

The Escapists sees gamers having to build up relationships, complete tasks, and ultimately work their way through planning an escape from a prison. If Prison Break the television show came out during the 1990s and there was a tie-in 16-bit game, The Escapists is the closest thing to that game that you can get.

MX vs. ATV Reflex is one of the most underrated racing games from last gen, boasting some great physics and intense gameplay that resonated with a lot of the gamers who played the title. The really cool part about it is that MX vs. ATV Reflex is backward compatible so if you got it on the Xbox 360 you can play it on the Xbox One with no problems. Cool, eh?

With all these free games coming out that are mostly must-have, I wonder how many gamers are finding themselves in a pickle with having to upgrade their hard drives for the Xbox One. The 500GB unit was always going to be a problem even at launch due to the size of games. Some quick tests quickly revealed that you wouldn't be able to keep many games on the Xbox One or PS4's hard drives due to how small they are.

500GB may sound like a lot, but with the size of today's games you'll burn through it pretty quickly, especially when games like GTA V and Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare take up a crazy amount of HDD space.

The upside is that the Xbox 360 titles are fairly small, so you won't be burning through space quite the same as with the free Xbox One games.

Additionally, the October games made available via Games With Gold for the Xbox One are also quite small, with Assassin's Creed Chronicles and The Escapists being budget-priced micro games instead of the mammoth AAA titles that people are usually used to.

You'll be able to get your hands on The Escapists for Xbox One for free between October 16th and November 15th, and I Am Alive for free on the Xbox 360 between October 16th and October 31st. Additionally, Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings will be free throughout the entire month of October.
