Not every football player is perfect for every position on the field, just the same as not every star athlete from every era can excel when taken out of their comfort zone and placed into a different era. Well, that applies to most NFL stars throughout history... except for three, who have perfect ratings in Madden NFL 18.
Uproxx is reporting that there are three elite players who have managed to make it into Madden NFL's "Club 99", which relates to players who have perfect 99 rating scores.
The three players who join this year's "Club 99" includes Denver Broncos' linebacker Von Miller, who managed to hit the prfect score in Madden NFL 18. Miller has mostly low 90s and high 80s for his base stats, including 87 speed, 89 accuracy, 89 agility and 84 strength. What moves him into the overall 99 rating is due to his finesse movement rating of 97, his 95 block shedding, 98 pursuit and his 91 power move rating. These stats allowed Miller to make the cut this year.
Second on the list is Los Angeles Rams' defensive end Aaron Donald, who managed a perfect 99 rating thanks to his ability to put a stop to quarterbacks and have a strong start off the line thanks to his 91 block shedding rating, and his 96 rating for power moves. Uproxx rolled out his base stats, which included a 90 for awareness, 83 for speed, 90 for accuracy, 82 for agility and 94 for strength. His stats definitely look better than Miller's, and it's not hard to see why Donald make the cut for "Club 99".
The third and final entry in the "Club 99" for Madden NFL 18 is none other than cover-athlete Tom Brady, who has been in the news top to bottom for his all-star performances over the last few years for the New England Patriots. I'm not entirely sure how Brady makes the 99 overall rating but Uproxx makes note of the qualifier that the score comes from his overall stats and not just a select few, especially given that his base stats don't look too hot. He has 99 awareness, but his speed is only 62, his accuracy is 66, his agility is 67 and his strength is at 64. Technically, his base stats would put him at a 71, but there is no list for his other stats, so those could be much higher.
This year's outing of Madden is kind of a big deal due to the amount of focus and prestige put on Tom Brady. Last year there was a pretty big focus on Brett Favre in Madden NFL 17, focusing on some his career highlights and the different career iterations of the famed quarterback.
Electronic Arts hasn't put a whole lot of time into promoting the new gameplay elements of Madden NFL 18, but the company was definitely intent on showcasing the game's brand new story mode. Unfortunately this means you won't be able to play any of the three "Club 99" players in the story mode since it focuses on two other characters as they attempt to make it from the college ranks to the professional sphere of the NFL and dealing with all the hardships along the way, including trust, betrayal, and family issues. But you will be able to play the "Club 99" players in the other modes.
