The ominous-looking home from Gone Home

We're about to dive headfirst into October, which means it's time to unload a fresh bundle of titles to be enjoyed through the Games with Gold promotion. Get ready to play Gone Home: Console Edition and The Turning Test on Xbox One, as well as Rayman 3 HD and Medal of Honor: Airborne on the Xbox 360.

Over on the Xbox Wire, they've revealed the four games joining the Gold lineup in October. If you subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, then you'll be getting these titles at no extra cost on top of your subscription fee. And as a reminder, once you download them, they're yours forever, even if you decide to go without Gold for a while.

We were expecting some spooky Halloween-themed goodness given the upcoming holiday, but the cards didn't exactly fall that way in October. Still, you could argue that Gone Home and The Turning Test have ominous tones that kinda fit the season. And speaking of those games, they're your Xbox One offerings for the month of October. The former will be available from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31 while the latter is available Oct. 16 through Nov. 15.

If you have kept in the dark about Gone Home until now, I won't spoil any of the plot here. Just know that you'll be playing a college student who has returned to their seemingly abandoned childhood home, where you'll stroll from room to room picking up bits and pieces of information about your family and what their lives have been like.

The Turning Test, on the other hand, is a first-person puzzle platformer. You'll be using a special gun to provide power to certain devices around a space station, all while discovering clues that will let you know who you are and why you're there in the first place.

Over to the 360 collection and we've got Rayman 3 HD, which will be available from Oct. 1 through Oct. 15. A spruced up version of the platforming classic, get ready to run, jump, hover and punch your way through some zany worlds.

Finally, there's Medal of Honor: Airborne, one of the more recent entries from the storied franchise of military first-person shooters. If you'd like to head back into the trenches, you'll be able to pick this one up from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31.

As a reminder, the wonders of backwards compatibility mean that all of these games are actually playable on the Xbox One. So if you're gaming on Microsoft's latest console, feel free to add all four to your digital collection.

So, what do you think of the Games with Gold library for October? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
