Electronic Arts has been consistently updating Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes some three years after it originally launched for mobile devices way back in 2015. The mobile title has been receiving a ton of fan-favorites throughout its run on the market so far, and EA is now diving into BioWare's old stash of Star Wars properties to bring some of the heroes from Knights of the Old Republic to Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.

The news was made available over on the official Star Wars website, where it was revealed that as part of the 15th anniversary for the game that originally launched on Microsoft's big black box back in 2003, the characters will be featured in Galaxy of Heroes.

It all started with the meat-bag hating killer robot, HK-47, and during this week the developers implemented the Jedi-heroine Bastila Shan, along with Jolee Bindo, T3-M4, Mission Vao, and the Wookie you picked up from named Zaalbar. It's not all just characters, though, there's also the Sith space fighter from Darth Malak that will be usable in the game, along with the inclusion of several new missions based on popular locations from BioWare's original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, such as the Taris Undercity and the Sith base that was based on the one featured in Taris and Manaan.

The reason that this change is happening to Knights of the Old Republic is because, after implementing HK-47 into the game a while back, the team saw a lot of positive numbers and feedback from gamers who really enjoyed the nostalgic-throwback to the sixth-gen Star Wars RPG. Due to the popularity of including the content, the developers decided to add more of the characters, including Bastila, who was sort of a moral compass for the player character and giving them some semblance of balance for using the force. Bindo, meanwhile, was like a cross between Obi-Wan and Mace Windu, offering sage advice when necessary and helping the player-character advance and grow during the advance. Zaalbar was basically just a carbon copy of Chewbacca.

Players have wanted more Jedi in the game, so Capital Games, the developers working on the title, decided to oblige by bringing back some of the familiar faces from the OG Xbox title.

Bastila comes with a dual orange lightsaber, while Bindo has a classic green lightsaber.

In the article there are interviews with some of the original designers of the game, talking about how there were a lot of strong influences from Star Wars: Episodes IV, V, and VI when designing the game and that some of the inspiration for some of the characters came from some very unlikely places.

Nevertheless, Capital Games has been attempting to implement the characters from Knights of the Old Republic in a way that pays homage to the classic action-RPG in a way that does the characters and the events justice.

You can play through the new Knights of the Old Republic content in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes right now if you have an iPhone or Android. The game is free-to-play.
